and Testing)
Assessment, evaluation, testing, standardized tests, surveys, Web-based evlauation
and grade-reporting tools, machine scoring, guides to the design of testing
and evaluation, including How

- Campus Instructional Consulting
A wide range of assistance to faculty and AIs in every aspect of course design
for every teaching format (lecture, discussion, labs) including: course design,
syllabus design, teaching techniques, learning styles, the characteristics
of IU students, civility in the classroom, grading methods. School-based
instructional consulting units are listed separately below.
- Campus Writing Program
Consultation on the use of writing in classes, including norming sessions
(meetings with AIs and faculty to ensure consistent and efficient marking)
of writing assignments; course development grants; research into the efficacy
of writing across the curriculum; administration of Writing
Tutorial Services, which assists IU students working on writing assignments
for any of their courses.
- Classroom Technology Services
Scheduling, training, and assistance with media and equipment for classroom
use, as well as training and support for classrooms with installed technology;
classroom database.
- Office of Service-Learning (OSL)
Assistance with the creation or revision of courses to incorporate community
engagement and service with academic study, matching course objectives to community requests.
- Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in
Teaching (FACET)
Members address the challenges of collegiate teaching, and develop and share
strategies to enhance pedagogy and practice.
- Freshman Learning Project
A yearly seminar designed to help faculty understand the obstacles faced by
students in their introductory classes and to develop new ways to help students
overcome these obstacles.
- Graphic Services
Artwork and graphics for classroom use, research/publication needs, and professional
presentations; consultation with conceptualization of visual materials and
selection of media.
- Instructional Consulting, School
of Education
Support for instructors in the School of Education with course development; Oncourse; distance education; digital video;
web design; desktop publishing; teaching, technology and diversity; course evaluation.
- Instructional Support and Assessment,
Kelly School of Business
Support for the Kelley School of Business with personal instructional consultation, departmental instructional consultation,
course planning and development, faculty development events, interpretation of student evaluations of teaching, and orientation
and acculturation for new instructors.
- IT Training and Education
Computing classes and workshops for faculty, staff, and students.
- Language and Computer Laboratories
Language labs, tape check-out and duplication, tape conversion, international
TV.
- IU Libraries Instructional Services
Set up class presentations, course-related instruction sessions, hands-on
database workshops tailored to assignments, and consultations for teaching
students how to use regarding the successful identification, access, and use
of specific information resources. Set up tours and workshops for graduate

- IU Libraries Media Services
A wide range of videotapes, audio tapes, laserdiscs, DVDs, and CD ROMS; audiovisual
equipment which may be used to play material from the library’s collection,
the user’s own material, or personal copies placed on reserve by faculty.
- IU Libraries Reserve
Services
Place library or personal materials on reserve for use by your students.
- Media Design and Production
Collaboration with university faculty in the design and development of instructional
media; production and support of audio, video, and digital programs related
to classroom instruction, academic initiatives, and university functions;
classroom videotaping
service.
- Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
(SOTL)
Affiliated with national initiatives of the Carnegie Foundation and the American
Association of Higher Education, SOTL supports the production and dissemination
of new knowledge about teaching and learning and helps faculty members explore
creative possibilities for application and integration of this knowledge in
specific courses and programs.
- Teaching and Learning Technology
Centers
Consulting and development for integrating instructional technologies into
classroom teaching.
- Teaching Resources Center
Offers self-serve production of color and black & white overhead transparencies,
blank overheads, and image scanning and editing.

& UITS Partnership.

- Understanding International
Instructors
Gives insights into succeeding in classroom situations led by international
instructors. Sponsored by the Student Policy Issues Committee of the Commission
on Multicultural Understanding and the Student Affairs Division.
